The third annual Walkabout: Theater On Your Feet started a couple of weeks ago.
This year, Janus Theatre submitted a short play by Alex Dremann. One Crisp Spring Morning premiered at the Humana Festival of new plays in 2009. This is the first time it has been produced in the Chicago area. It’s being performed on the top floor of the Fulton Street Parking Deck.
The piece features a mother and daughter having coffee one morning as they slowly reveal their secret backgrounds and identities. If you’ve ever seen Wallace Shawn as Vizzini in that wonderful scene from Princess Bride, called “The Wager” then you’ll love this play.
Like the scene in the movie, our two wonderful actors, Ann Marie Nordby as the mother and Elaine Castro as the daughter, attempt to reveal each other’s double-spy-secret-agency, all the while sipping International General Foods Coffee. In ten short minutes the audience goes on a verbal rollercoaster ride which feels like something out of 007 movie.
We’ve got one more Saurday to go – August 14. Tours start at 1:00p.m. To make reservations, call 847-841-1713
